My professional interests are in exploring the mysteries of animal science with youth and their respective caregivers and teachers. By offering relevant, real-world opportunities for school-aged children to experience the many disciplines involved in caring for domestic and captive animals, I strive to engage learners in teachable moments that will inspire them to pursue higher education or careers involving companion animals or livestock species. The New York State 4-H Youth Development Animal Science program strives to engage young people in science and technology literacy activities, healthy lifestyle choices, and leadership opportunities to become productive and contributing community members. All programs support youth educators and volunteers through workshops, publications, websites, lending libraries, electronic list updates and telephone responses.
