research and scholarship focus

  • I am a molecular pathologist with a strong interest in the pathogenesis of viral diseases and correlating molecular findings with histopathologic changes. In particular I am interested in the pathogenesis of avian viruses and, since my background is in ecology, I am interested in determining how infectious diseases affect populations of wild fauna. As a diagnostician, my interest is in the diseases of non-domestic animals. During my training I have had the opportunity to assist with research projects on a wide variety of species including Common rheas, ducks, domestic chickens, domestic cats, foxes and California sea lions. I am dedicated to the training and mentoring of residents in Anatomic Pathology as well as DVM students with an interest in the field.
